Chapter 169: His little lover

The panic in his seemed to have disappeared in an instant as he stood up from his chair before walking towards her. His usually grim expressions were long gone as worry etched on to his face while he carefully glanced at her, "What happened to you? Xiao Li, are you hurt somewhere?"

Her lips trembled for a moment, "I.. I'm fine," she paused for a moment, before adding softly, "What were you talking about?"

Though she sounded calm, her brain felt fuzzy. The shock was too big for her to digest.

Song Tianyu patted her head as he sighed, "You heard it right. I am your father.''

Her eyes widened in astonishment as he removed the artificial skin from his face. Though there was some redness due to irritation on his skin but how could she not recognize those remarkably familiar features?

She realized that the pair of hazel eyes of hers were a gift from this man as he too had the same ones. There was no doubt that he was their father. Other than that, his jawlines, his straight nose, his eyebrows...Her brother was literally a carbon copy of him.

Her eyes teared up as she looked up at him. She could feel every muscle of her chin tremble like a small child as she looked towards the ceiling, hoping to contain those tears.

A mother that treated them like strangers; she never wanted one. But as a child, the constant absence of a father has always affected her and Tang Yichen in some ways or other. Watching other kids going out to play has often made them jealous, even if they never showed it on their faces.

Having loving grandparents was a blessing to the Tang Siblings. Being neglected by their mother became a habit to them. But even if they didn't show it, they craved a father's love which they never got.

During the difficult times, Tang Yichen and Tang Li have depended on each other, bottling up every pain and struggles they had to face. She has long been transformed into a strong woman; the CEO of Ash Corps whom they referred to as a demoness.

But, did they know? Did they know that she was once a distressed kid who would look out of the window in hope that maybe she would see her father soon? They didn't know it.

The rims of her eyes slowly turned red as she opened her mouth to speak something, but before she could say anything, she felt a warm palm on her cheeks.

Song Tianyu gently wiped her tears away before caressing her cheeks, "Circumstances force us, my dear. There are certain reasons for which I never got the chance to reveal the truth that I'm your father. But you, my babygirl, have been my little beloved from the very first moment I laid my eyes on you."

Brick by brick, his words tumbled her wall. When she met him at the evening ball, she had felt that warm and happy feeling inside. Later on, she once doubted his intentions, wondering if the Song Family was a friend or a for but her mind has always subconsciously denied such thoughts.

That was more of the reason for her to avoid them just like she did that day in the bakery. She didn't want unnecessary attachments or emotions. But the father-son duo was one hell of a clingy people. And somehow, they made her feel comfortable and relaxed in their presence. It's not that she never doubted that this man could be their father; it just sounded ridiculous as there were a lot of loopholes when she thought from that point.

She was no longer a kid who craved her father's affection but still, it was a nice feeling.

"I'm glad we are not orphans!" It was the first thing she said to the man after calming her emotions.

"Are you angry?" It pained his heart to hear something like that coming out of her mouth. But more than that, what bothered him was if she was angry and disappointed with him. Did she blame him for everything?

Tang Li shook her head. She was not angry. If it was ten years ago, she would have yelled at him, thrown tantrums, and whatnot. But right now, she has already learned to cherish everything she has the hard way.

Tang Li was not a fool who would trust just anyone. If she had not heard Song Tianyu's word while he was talking to Old Master Song, then she might have never acknowledged him as her father, or worse she would have taken him as an enemy who was just pretending to care for her.

But luckily, she heard him; she didn't misunderstand the whole situation. And, the years of frustration of not having a father has washed away just like that. She was not extremely happy neither did she feel like jumping. The revelation just made her heart calmer, she was content and it felt peaceful; like this was how everything was supposed to be.
