Chapter 298: Jealous

"Umm… It's so good..'' Tang Li sipped the hot chocolate before leaning closer to Mo Yuhan as they watched the movie in their home theatre, "Aren't you bored watching this?" she asked.

He glanced towards the movie that was playing on the screen, 'Little Mermaid, he then looked back at his wife, "Not bored at all," he said remembering it was supposed to be their first date back then and they should have gone out to watch this movie. That night, he felt so excited about tomorrow, the day they would be going out for their official date but she never showed up. After that, she completely disappeared from his life.

He pulled her closer to himself as she snuggled to his chest, "Umm…It's finished," She looked at her mug that barely had a drop of hot chocolate, her voice somewhat disappointed.

He chuckled, "Do you want another one?"

She pursed her lips, "Will you make it for me?" She asked to which he gave a small nod, "Don't you want to enjoy the movie?" Won't he be curious about the ending of that?

"I'm not that into mermaids," He pressed his lips onto her forehead before standing up, "I'd rather please my wife."

She smiled as she looked at his retreating back.

After 15 minutes, the movie was nearing its ending yet Mo Yuhan was not back yet. Tang Li stood up from the chair before making her way back to the living room but her brows bumped together when she realized that the whole villa was enshrouded with darkness.

"Mo Yuhan…" her voice was rather soft as she called out for him.

There was no response. Dark thoughts were lingering at the back of her mind that she desperately tried to shrug off. She could feel her heart thudding in her chest as she held onto the railing for support while walking towards the staircase.

All she could hear was her light footsteps that treaded inside the eerily quiet villa except for the sound of the heavy downpour outside. She did not have her phone with her to switch the flashlight on. All she could do was try to find a small source of light. It was unnerving… the ridiculous thought of something happening to Mo Yuhan crossed her mind. He was strong…not that she has personally witnessed it but she knew that he was strong, his fast reflexes, his sharp aiming had already been revealed the day a robo-car was sent to kill her.

"Yuhan, where are you?" She shouted, her voice echoing in the huge villa but the lack of response made her palm sweaty.

The past few days of her life have been pretty peaceful that she forgot the danger hanging above her head like a sword. After the launch of DX, she was seen as the face of the brand along with Mo Yuhan and her brother. Her hands curled into fists. "Mo Yuhan, are you there?" She asked as she slowly stepped on the first stair.

But she was stunned when a bright light shone above her head and making her look like she was standing under the spotlight. The surrounding was enveloped in darkness but as descended the stairs, one after another, the bright light continued to follow her until she stood the in the living room.

"Mo Yuhan?" This time though her voice was laced with anticipation and a little surprise because she could see his faint silhouette amidst the darkness as he walked towards her, his steps slow and casual but she could feel her calming down.

Earlier, she almost got a fright at the thought of something bad happening to him.

He walked towards her with steady footsteps but as he stood in front of her, she could see his eyes wandering around, looking at everywhere but her. He was still wearing the same outfit, casual black shirt, and trousers, still had that indifferent face but those blue eyes…when have they ever betrayed her?

"Are you shy? Or nervous?" For whatever reason, she did not know it but she could feel it at the way his lips twitched at her words.

Mo Yuhan's intense gaze landed on the woman standing in front of him. She was wearing nothing special like a beautiful dress or a gorgeous suit that she always donned, but a casual purple colored single shoulder sweatshirt combined with denim white shorts that seemed to be kind of shrilly at the edge. Her waist-long hair was not properly combed as it framed her small-face, making her appear youthful than ever.

She did not do anything as she stood there, staring at him with confusion as to what has gotten onto him. But every single movement of hers had his heart hammering in his chest, "Lili," he walked towards her standing under the bright light that had outcasted her from the darkness.

'Thump!'

"Yes?" Her brows arched up as her lips parted but words refused to come out as he knelt in front of her on one knee. As much as she preferred her calm self…this time she messed up in schooling her expression. For the love of business… her mind went blank.

No, she did not what she felt. She certainly did not feel as such when she daringly proposed him to marry her. The sight of him kneeling in front of her made her throat run dry. Heart racing, palm-sweating, she just stood there looking at him blankly.

"Happy Birthday, Lil," His lips tugged up as that pair of blue eyes glanced at her, hints of tenderness, care, and affections swirling within them.

Her lips parted once again. How do you know? She wanted to ask. It has been over a decade, did he still remember it?

Of course, he did, idiot. Her heart snapped at her for being foolish as the man just wished her.

She wanted to speak but he did not give her the chance, "I was kind of jealous when you held that boy's hand," he muttered, still kneeling.

Her eyes widened, "What are you talking about?" When did she hold someone's hand? And why is he looking at me like I'm kind of a big bad wolf who gobbled down his innocence and then cheated on him?
