Chapter 429 Incredible Perseverance, Surprise
"No. That cannot happen. We have to wait until the leader arrives. If the leader is at the superhuman level, then, we can use the mirage crystal to trick him, then, enter the residence and take away our target." Doris replied in a hushed voice after thinking about it for a moment.
Since currently, they were the ones that were in the light while the enemies in the dark, the only solution that they had was to make sure that they managed to lure out all those that were hiding. After that, they would finally use the mirage crystal.
The mirage crystal was something precious and could only be used three times. After that, the crystal would crumble into dust. Had it been that it was simple to get the crystal, then, Doris and the group would have decided to use the crystal now.
But, with how precious it was, they were not willing to waste it. Doris was already thinking of minimizing the usage of the crystal. Of course, if there was any other option, she would have resorted to that.
As of now, she did not know if the other party knew about the reason as to why they were looking for Anita. But, since if they knew or not, they were still preventing them from doing what they wanted, then, they were already enemies.
Doris's group made no move and so did the puppets. They had been instructed that they had to prevent the group from getting to their target. And since that was the case, with the group in front of them not making any move, they were good with that. They decided to wait for Jack's arrival.
After the leading puppet finally confirmed that the group was not going to make any move, it finally took out the phone and contacted Jack. But, after the call rang several times, there was no response at all. The puppet did not stop at that and tried again. But, the results were still the same.
When Doris saw that the puppet was making a call, she was at first surprised before she revealed a faint smile. This was what she wanted. To get the one that was behind the scenes. But, her expression shifted when she suddenly noticed that, it had already been a few minutes but the puppet was still making a call.
Had there been any conversation, then, she would not have cared. But, the puppet was doing the very same thing again and again without stopping. And of course, as a person that had used a phone before, she guessed that the reason behind this was that, the other end was not receiving the call.
If that was the case, then, the plan that she was having in mind would not be able to go through as she wanted it to be like. If the other party didn't respond, then what was the use of waiting? It would be better if they acted now rather than waiting for uncertainties.
"Should we do something about it?" Ken, who had already gotten impatient asked. He really wanted to make a move now. He was not a person that was used to waiting. He liked to complete things faster.
Even though Doris was tempted by the suggestion, she thought that this might actually be the plan of the other side. They might be waiting for them to make the first move. As for why they would want that, that was not something that she could guess.
"Let's just wait. We have to act calmly and not rashly. If we end up making a mistake now, we would end up angering the vice supreme leader. As for the consequences, I don't think that I have to inform you about that, right?" Doris said in a low voice.
Of course, she didn't know that the five ladies that they were facing were just puppets that had been instructed to keep an eye on them and prevent them from doing anything.
Ken swallowed his saliva as he thought of the consequences of failing the mission. They would not only have to face the terror of the vice supreme leader, but also the supreme leader. Although the vice supreme leader looked like a good person, he became evil the moment that one provoked him.
This went on just like that. From midnight to the time that the sun rose from the eastern sky. The dew-covered group could only watch helplessly as the lady in front of them continued doing the same thing over and over again, like a broken robot.
Of course, the group had already gotten impatient and tired of waiting. Due to the fear of failing in the mission, they were able to stop themselves from acting rashly. In the end, they could only sit down as they were already tired of standing.
They relaxed their muscles as they watched as the ladies continued to watch over them like sleepless hawks. Their actions had of course made the group wonder whether they were actually humans.
The wait went on until it was almost noon. Doris finally got impatient and stood up. They had already been waiting for about twelve hours but the call was never picked, and neither did any other person show up. Additionally, it had already gotten irritating watching the lady pretending to be making a call over and over again.
Just as Doris was about to instruct the group about what they were supposed to do, she suddenly noticed that the lady had also began speaking. It seemed that the person on the other end of the call had finally received the call.
"Master, the group really came over. But, we were able to prevent them from reaching their destination. Currently, we are still at a standstill because they don't seem to want to attract any great attention by fighting closer to the Jesda family residence." The lady spoke in the usual emotionless voice.
Doris and the rest were surprised by the way that she addressed the person on the other end of the call. They couldn't help but wonder what stronghold she came from.
"Hey, do you think that she is mind controlled or something? The way that this group of ladies is acting is strange. They don't seem to get tired from standing and watching us, the other one did the same thing for practically twelve hours without getting tired. And, they don't seem to want to use the toilet at all!" Steve complained as he looked at the ladies with suspicion in his eyes.
"Get lost, will you? Mind control? That is something that can only be found in the big strongholds. From the strength of the five, isn't it obvious that they are weak to be from such a big stronghold?" Doris replied as she rolled her eyes.
"Leave him alone. It's just that his perverted nature has awaken. He only wants to see them naked." Ken replied with a slight chuckle.
"Whatever it is, you have to make sure that you are careful. We have to ensure that we complete this mission before we go back to the stronghold. Otherwise, it is going to be difficult for us to continue staying in the stronghold, and continuing to get the resources that we are being given currently." Doris stated.
After she said that, she focused on the group of ladies around them. Even though they did not know the origin of this group of people, they realized that there had to be something wrong with them.
Unless this group was made of superhumans, there was no way that they were going to be capable of standing without moving an inch for almost 12 hours. Moreover, they didn't look tired at all.
Of course, none of them ever guessed that this group was actually made of puppets. And, just like how they did not possess human emotions, they did not also follow several of the human routines. Something like eating and so on were completely inconsistent for them.
For Jack, this was like a group of tireless soldiers that could enter the battlefield, and unless they were killed, there was no way that they were going to stop fighting. Additionally, they did not even experience pain.
This was the exact reason as to why Jack was trying to see if there was a method that he was going to utilize to maintain all these 100 puppets. In fact, if he was given an option of remaining with only two or three of them, then, Jack would be satisfied.
Of course, if he was given three of them, at least, the system had to give him a method that he was going to utilize to improve their strength as well. With their current strength, if he went to the bigger strongholds, then, they might be completely useless.
The group went on and waited for a while longer. And, it was only after about 40 minutes that finally, they heard some movements coming from not far from where they currently were.
Doris's eyes shone with excitement. After a long period of perseverance, they had managed to lure the real boss behind the scene. Just thinking of completing the mission and getting out of here as soon as possible, of course, Doris was not the only one who was excited about it.
Knowing that she might not be given a chance of taking out the mirage Crystal if the person that she would be facing would be a superhuman, Doris took out the crystal, and held it in her hand as she waited.
Then, the group fixated their eyes towards the direction that they had heard the movements coming from. Then, they were completely stunned the moment that they saw who it was that had appeared.
