CH 172

[Night of Resolve]

The winter party held at Tayte’s—the Ehrenbergs’ home.

There would be Andrei’s one-in-lifetime chance.

The night after the exam was over.

I said “Thanks for your hard work today” to Marina before going to bed.

I recalled how Jarvis was treated in the original storyline.

After the original Barrett took hold of her weakness, she was forced to become his right-hand man and her life started to take a downward spiral.

–Andrei was likely actually there for her.

Given his character, I bet he tried his best to convince her to mend her way.

But in the end, his feelings didn’t reach him… Jarvis became known as a member of the notorious hero party. And eventually, she was defeated by the awakened Raul—for some reason, my chest started to feel stuffy.

It wasn’t just Jarvis.

What did Andrei feel when he saw off Jarvis who admitted to the crimes she had committed albeit under threat as she was sent to prison? …Knowing him, he must have blamed himself.

At least, such situations wouldn’t occur in this world.

Jarvis had come out about her gender at the academy festival and exposed all the evils of her family. She had been saved in the truest sense.

I didn’t know whether or not things would go as Andrei wished… but judging from what I had seen, there was some hope at least.

“After that…”

My mind shifted to another topic as I tossed and turned in bed.

–About my relationship with Tayte.

Once this winter passed and spring arrived, it would be exactly one year since I came to this world.

I couldn’t say for certain because the academy arc wasn’t covered in detail in the original storyline, but things had gone smoothly so far—or at least, they should be.

My once utterly bad reputation had improved, too.

And so, I made up my mind.

I was going to… improve my relationship with Tayte.

We were going along just fine.

But I didn’t want us to stop there.

At the upcoming party, I wanted to get a little closer to her. Considering Tayte’s personality, I probably couldn’t go too far, but I should be able to take our relationship to the next one or two steps and that was what I planned to do.

As we moved up a year, we would also have more practical training classes.

Additionally, depending on the their abilities, students might also participate in monster subjugation missions.

Most likely, that was what members of the Knights of the Academy would do… but if that were the case, we would be busy and have less free time than we do now.

Before then, I had to advance my relationship with Tayte!

“…I can’t just be worrying about Andrei.”

I would support Andrei.

But I had to look out for myself as well.

Haah, it was going to be tough…

But I couldn’t help it, so I just had to give it my best.

And for that… I must make various preparations.
