[Battle Report]

After rescuing the nobles that had been taken hostage, we went back to the knights’ camp.

Then, I, as the leader of the Knights of the Academy, and Jarvis, as the deputy leader, headed to Sir Klaus’s tent.

We immediately reported on the release of the hostages at the Haywells’ mansion, and…

“Good work.”

Sir Klaus praised us.

However, upon hearing an alumnus of Astor Academy had been among the group of rioters, he was terribly shaken “What did you say?!” Being an alumnus of Astor Academy himself, the news must be a shocker, to say the least.

“How could an alumnus of the academy fall so lowly… it’s saddening.”

With a big sigh, Sir Klaus closed his eyes and faced up.

“Jarvis, do you know his name?”

“I think it was Matt Yurovsky.”

“! Yurovsky… that guy?”

It seemed Sir Klaus knew him as well.

“…Jarvis.”

“Yes.”

“Since you were on the same committee as him, from your standpoint… what kind of guy was he?”

“Well, he was far from well-behaved.”

For Jarvis to say such a thing without hesitation… this Matt Yurovsky must be pretty bad.

But it seemed that even a delinquent like him had some areas where he was superior to others.

“However, although he is a commoner, he has participated in the martial arts tournament at the academy festival for two years in a row. I had the opportunity to watch his match last year and his Spearmanship stood out to me.”

“If I’m not mistaken, he crushed his opponents in both of those tournaments, didn’t he?”

Wait… didn’t that mean he’d been very strong…?

“His attitude might be problematic, but his abilities were real.”

“However, that is all in the past. He barely took part in the fight and he fled when he saw that his side was going to lose.”

“Hmm…”

After hearing what Jarvis said, Klaus… didn’t seem convinced.

It was the same for me.

The guy had been taken notice by the Holy Knight Klaus himself at one point, and despite his bad behavior, the academy had elected him as a fighter in the academy festival’s martial arts tournament, twice at that. Even if he had been neglecting his training after graduating, would a guy with his combat prowess simply withdraw at his side’s disadvantage? Putting that aside, why had he been placed to guard the mansion much like a grunt? …The questions just kept coming.

“It seems like… there’s a need to look into him and those close to him.” Sir Klaus released a big sigh.

I could sense the matter put a heavy weight on his mind.

“Oh, and Barrett. The matter regarding Matt Yurovsky must be reported to Principal Abigail.”

“Yes.”

“I will inform her myself… but you must be present as well. So, be sure to prepare a detailed report including information on the situation onsite. I’ll let you know when later.”

“Understood.”

…Somehow, I kind of felt like I had become a member of the knightly order.

Maybe, I should become a knight after graduating.

–Nah, no way. I mean, I was the eldest son of the Albers House. I probably would have to help my father with his work so that I could be prepared to succeed him as the head of the family… either way, it seemed that the time for me to have to seriously consider my career path was fast approaching.

Afterward, Sir Klaus told us about the operation to recapture the city the rioters based on.

Apparently, it had gone well and they were going to launch a final major offensive as soon as dawn broke.

Having fulfilled our mission of liberating the hostages, we wouldn’t be participating in the large-scale offensive and decided to return to the academy at dawn. Of course, with Tayte in tow.

The hostage incident had been solved… but the newly discovered facts would surely shake the academy, and this series of incidents would likely not end here.

With a heavy feeling in our hearts, Jarvis and I left Sir Klaus’ tent.
