Chapter 271 Pretty Much Over

The referee wasn't even going to try and check because he knew what he saw but Jonas kept on persuading him and because of that, the left-back was shown a yellow card.

"Jonas gets booked for disturbing the referee, he should have known better, most of his bookings last season came from just saying something to the referee," Jim said.

'I was really happy thinking that I would be keeping two clean sheets in a row and then this happened.' Dave said subconsciously as he made sure his gloves weren't slipping off his hands.

<Just so you know, penalties can be saved or missed, you should know, you've saved one before and you've also witnessed players miss penalty kicks

"This is a massive chance for Black Roz FC to pull one back and this will surely boost their motivation to get back into the game if Aveiro converts it." Steve expressed.

Aveiro was standing over the ball now waiting for the referee's whistle.

The referee made sure that all the players were behind the taker who was standing over the ball on the penalty spot and outside of the box before he blew his whistle.

After hearing the whistle, Aveiro didn't rush to take the kick as he kept his gaze on the ball for about five seconds before he slowly took three steps backward before he let out a deep breath.

[ Ball magnet activated ]

With all that done, the striker quickly closed up on the ball and sent it flying toward the goalpost.

The ball was sent flying toward the right side of the goalpost but Aveiro made a mistake when he sent the ball flying toward that side with just a little elevation, if he had sent it toward the very top, then Dave would have had fewer chances of stopping it.

The goalkeeper dived toward the ball and punched it out with both of his hands but the danger wasn't exactly cleared yet.

"Nice stop from Dave! But the rebound is still there."

Adolf quickly rushed toward the ball at the same time as George.

George got there before him to be precise, but before the striker could get his foot on the ball, he slid toward it and sent it flying out for a throw-in.

"The Captain's there to clear the danger and keep his team's two-goal lead safe," Steve said.

The goalkeeper's teammates were delighted after that save from him and you could tell by how they had all gathered around him now.

"This team's current work rate is unmatchable, Dave comes up with a clutch spot kick save and Adolf comes in with the slide to stop the rebound from turning into a goal and making the goalkeeper's save useless." Jim expressed.

Black Roz FC's throw-in was sent into the box to try and desperately create something but attacking desperately wasn't the best decision as Jonas was there to clear the ball.

"I can't believe Unique FC survived that, they've done well to deal with that, they deserve to still be two goals up," Jim said.

"Black Roz FC had the chance to pull one back and they blew it, there's still a lot of time left to get back into the game but I don't see them making any comeback in this match." Steve expressed.

'That was a close one.' The goalkeeper said subconsciously before he let out a sigh of relief and sat on the floor.

<That save was clumsy you know, you could have just gone for the grab>

'I know, I was a bit under pressure that's why it happened, it's a good thing I always have Adolf in defense.'

<Yeah, and now that hope of keeping two clean sheets in a row is still alive, I don't expect you to blow this up unless you guys concede a second penalty>

'I won't.' He replied before he slowly got up on his feet.

The match continued until the seventieth minute with none of the sides being able to get a goal but Unique FC had the upper hand in terms of possession and gameplay and they still had their two goals lead.

Norman had made three substitutions so far and that was why we had Roland, Aima, and Norman Kole on the pitch now.

All three changes were in defense and what was the reason for bringing them in? To fortify the defense and make things more difficult for the guests.

Roland received the ball from Frankie after the midfielder almost lost it at the edge of the line.

The left-back tried to move a bit forward with the ball before he sent it rolling toward Minino.

Minino moved forward a little with the ball, but before he could do anything reasonable with it, he was brought down under a careless challenge by Mason from behind.

"Oh, that is a very careless challenge from Mason," Jim said.

The referee blew his whistle before he quickly rushed to the area and showed Mason a yellow card.

"As expected, he's getting booked for that," Steve said.

"I expected Minino to be on the floor after that tackle but he's right back on his feet," Jim said.

"He's got one strong foot."

The match continued with the free kick as Unique FC continued their string of passes.

The ball was played back to Aima who quickly stretched the ball to Minino, but before the ball could get to the midfielder, he fell to the floor clutching onto his left foot and allowing the ball to go out for a throw-in in the process.

"Oh, Minino's down here and he's clutching onto his foot," Steve said.

"It took him that long to start feeling the effects of that tackle?" Jim said. "It looks like he's asking to be taken off."

Norman did as the midfielder requested and replaced him with Henry who was happy to hop onto the pitch.

"I should have taken him out earlier," Norman muttered before turning his gaze to Minino who was getting his leg looked at in the bench area now. "I just hope it's not a serious one."

The ball was thrown in by a Black Roz FC player but Henry was right there to steal it off the foot of Mason and once that was done he quickly stretched the ball to Ferran who quickly cut past the player right in front of him before stretching the ball to Mateo.

"Unique FC are starting a full-force attack here."

Mateo raced down the wing before he quickly caught toward the middle in his attempt to get into the box and sent the ball to Frankie.

Frankie quickly sent the ball to Ferran who quickly found Merino on the right and sent the ball to him.

"Merino."

Merino saw Mateo making a run into the box and quickly sent the ball to him from above with just a little lob.

The winger zoomed past the player trying to stop him to get to the ball before it hit the floor and with a little flick, he sent the ball past the goalkeeper and into the goalpost from the right before the goalkeeper brought him down with his body.

"It's in! Oh, what a wonderful finish from Mateo!"

The winger quickly got up from the floor and flung both of his hands continuously as he headed toward Merino on the right.

The two met with a wholesome hug before the rest of the team got there.

"At this point, the match is pretty much over."
