Chapter 59.2 – The Prince Consort’s Slyness

Lu Qipei remembered clearly what had happened after she became drunk that time. Although she felt embarrassed when she thought about them later, at least Her Highness liked it – no, not just liked, she even wanted to drink with her again next time.

Lu Qipei was a bit dense, but she was not stupid. Of course, she knew how to make use of her own advantages.

Just like right now, she acted silly and obedient and finally got Qi Yang’s smile to return, and the two of them was able to chat again. Unlike before, this time Lu Qipei did not return to sit across the table, but sat next to Qi Yang.

Lu Qipei lifted her hand to pull back a strand of Qi Yang’s hair that was scattered around her ear, then asked after thinking for a while, “Ah Ning, when did you return?”

Qi Yang stared at her for a long time. It was still hard for her to calm her mood, but she still replied, “The day I tied you up and brought you back to the palace.”

Lu Qipei was stunned and couldn’t help laughing, “What a coincidence. I was a few days earlier than you. When I returned, I didn’t dare to stay at the Lu family. I just thought about running as far away from the capital as I could.”

If she had left one day earlier or one day later, they would’ve missed each other, and their red string of fate in this life might have been over right then.

Fortunately, they never missed each other.

Of course Qi Yang understood this. Once again, she was grateful that fate was not completely heartless towards them. The last trace of resentment at the bottom of her heart also disappeared – after all, fate could still make it up to her, and this person was still by her side.

Lu Qipei was feeling stupidly happy about this fate for a while, but she suddenly thought of something and her eyes turned dim again. She looked at Qi Yang and asked, “Ah Ning, did you die a natural death in your previous life?”

Qi Yang saw the wariness in Lu Qipei’s eyes, and considered lying to her so she wouldn’t scare her away again. But the words that came out of her lips were, “When did Prince Consort become so narcissistic? If I had died a natural death, in let’s say fifty years, how would I still remember you?”

It was probably the truth, and it was also the ending that Lu Qipei had guessed. But when she heard Qi Yang say it, she still felt a sting in her heart. Her gaze turned sad, and all she could say was, “I am sorry…”

Qi Yang stopped her lips before Lu Qipei could finish speaking, squinting as she said, “I don’t want to hear those three words again.”

From the moment they recognized each other, she had been apologizing, and she was still apologizing right now. Qi Yang could only feel that Lu Qipei’s whole body would be overwhelmed by guilt. However, she had never hated her. The only thing she hated was her own blindness.

Not only did she not recognize Lu Qipei’s identity, she had also had to wait for years after her death before she could understand her feelings… However, Qi Yang would not let herself feel guilty or apologize, because she knew that too much guilt would just be an obstacle between them.

If they kept talking about apologies, when could they start talking about love!?

Fortunately, Lu Qipei was dense and obedient. Since Qi Yang refused to let her apologize, not only did Lu Qipei swallow back her apology thoroughly, even the guilt in her eyes receded, and her gaze turned to pure tenderness.

Qi Yang felt a little hot inside when she saw that gaze, and she finally took back the fingers that were sealing Lu Qipei’s lips.

Lu Qipei grabbed Qi Yang’s hand and held her fingertips in her palm. She hesitated a bit, then asked, “In the previous life… what happened after I left? Can you tell me?”

Although the past was filled with many sadness, they were just like fleeting clouds in this life. Qi Yang knew Lu Qipei’s temperament, and didn’t want to talk to her in detail because she was afraid that Lu Qipei would blame herself more.

However, she suddenly thought of something and didn’t want Lu Qipei to misunderstand, so she said, “Although Lu Qicheng looked very similar to you, but I noticed it after you switched identities. The way he looked at me was different than yours.”

Lu Qipei’s eyes were always pure, and she always looked at Qi Yang honestly. It didn’t even show too much affection. But Lu Qicheng was different. His eyes pretended to be gentle, but there was possessiveness and ambition hidden beneath.

If she hadn’t met Lu Qipei, the naïve and innocent little princess might have been easy to trick. But after seeing real honesty and purity, how could she not tell the difference when she saw Lu Qicheng’s hypocritical face?

So Qi Yang’s attitude quickly turned cold and indifferent, and she wouldn’t let Lu Qicheng get close to her. However, she didn’t think that her Prince Consort had been switched.

“I investigated for a long time, but unfortunately the Lu family hid you too well in the earlier years, then wiped all the traces so cleanly. It was only a few years later that I vaguely found out that Lu Qicheng had a twin sister.” Qi Yang seemed a little dejected, but then her eyes suddenly lit up again, “Then I gave him a cup of poisoned wine.”

Her Royal Highness’s killing move was executed swiftly and cleanly, unlike Lu Qipei who made him twitch and toss around for a long time.

After hearing this, Lu Qipei smacked her lips. Right now, there was only one feeling in her heart – it turned out that Lu Qicheng didn’t get the advantage over them. He got to kill herself once in the previous life, but between the previous life and this life, she and Qi Yang got to kill him twice in a row!

Author notes:

Qi Yang (dumbfounded): No no, Prince Consort, aren’t you getting the point wrong?

Lu Qipei (confused): Then what? Didn’t you say all this to tell me that you’ve avenged me?

Qi Yang (…): My Prince Consort is too dense! She’s not getting what I’m trying to explain to her! This is frustrating!

Translator notes:

Poor Qi Yang lol, Lu Qipei is so dense.
