Chapter 103.2 – A Tiger’s Roar

The Princess and the Prince Consort was watching, so the attendants were working hard. Their plan didn’t go wrong either, and after waiting for a while, the rabbits in the cave finally couldn’t bear it anymore and started running out one after the other.

The attendants had fast hands and sharp eyes, and guarded the entrances and caught each of them. It was indeed much easier than when they tried to surround the rabbits earlier.

Not long after, around four to five lively rabbits were sent to Qi Yang.

She could now account to the little dumpling. Qi Yang was also quite happy to see these wild rabbits, and was about to order everyone to bring them back to the camp to take care of them, planning to reward the attendants once they returned to the mansion. However, the horses around her suddenly became restless.

Qi Yang furrowed her brow and tightened the reins, comforting the horse while asking, “What’s going on?”

The attendants didn’t react for a while, as there was nothing unusual when they looked around. Lu Qipei frowned and said, “Horses have a keen sense of danger. There might be something in this forest, let’s go back first, don’t stay here for long.”

Sure enough, just as Lu Qipei’s words fell, a tiger’s roar suddenly came from the mountain forest.

The horses became even more restless. If it hadn’t been for their training, it would have already run away in the face of such a fierce beast.

Qi Yang’s expression turned very ugly. She took the lead in galloping outside the hunting ground, saying as she ran, “Was that a tiger’s roar just now? How could there be a tiger in this hunting ground!?” After saying that, she thought of something and turned to look at Lu Qipei.

Lu Qipei’s expression was also not good. She exchanged a glance with Qi Yang, and they almost immediately understood what the other was thinking.

Jiuyang Mountain was a royal hunting ground, not a wild mountain forest. Although there were no one to control the proliferation of wild animals here, but beasts such as tigers and leopards would not be left unchecked.

Especially before the start of the Autumn Hunt, this hunting ground would be combed three to five times by the soldiers – after all, those who could participate in the Autumn Hunt were not ordinary people, and among these people, it was impossible for everyone to be good at killing tigers and leopards.

Right now, the Emperor also brought several of his grandchildren. And these young grandchildren, even if just for the sake of showing off a good performance, also brought their attendants into the hunting ground! And with the Crown Prince responsible for the safety of the hunting ground, he would definitely treat it with the utmost importance.

Let alone tigers and leopards, even ferocious beasts like bears and wolves wouldn’t stay around this time!

But now, a tiger that should never appear in the hunting ground had appeared…

Qi Yang and Lu Qipei’s hearts became a little heavy, especially when they thought of those little grandsons just now. A fierce beast suddenly appeared in the hunting ground. If someone was really targeting them, then King Wei and these little royal grandsons were obviously the most important targets!

As Lu Qipei saw the change in Qi Yang’s expression, she quickly persuaded the latter as she rode next to her, “Ah Ning, don’t think too much. Let’s go out as soon as possible and find the royal guards to solve the problem.”

Qi Yang tightly pursed her lips, then nodded and rode her horse a little faster, with the wind howling in her ears.

They were determined to leave, and the horses were running very hard. But whether It was bad luck or wrong direction, when the originally distant tiger roar sounded again, it seemed a bit closer to them.

Lu Qipei fiercely pulled on the reins and said, “This isn’t right, is the tiger running towards us? If we keep running like this, we might run into it. Let’s go in a different direction.”

When her words fell, there were no objections. The attendant who was familiar with the hunting ground paths ran to the front and began to lead the crowd around.

However, not long after they turned direction, they heard rapid sounds of hooves. It sounded disorderly and panicked, as if they were being chased by something – in such a situation, when the tiger’s roar from earlier had not fully dissipated yet, it was needless to say what was chasing the group of people.

Both Lu Qipei and Qi Yang’s expressions changed, but it was too late to change directions again.

As expected, a group of people and horses rushed out of the forest in a hurry. In the lead was a young boy, wearing a brocade robe and a small crown. He had been running away for a while and was in a very awkward state. Even the small crown on his head had branches hanging from it, and he couldn’t pay attention to his slightly disheveled hair.

The little boy caught sight of Qi Yang and her group from a distance, and his eyes lit up with a hint of hope. But it was just for a moment; he gritted his teeth and instructed the few attendants behind him, “Turn around and run outside the hunting ground!”

The attendants clearly saw Qi Yang’s group as well. They had originally wanted to seek help, but due to the young boy’s command, they had to follow him and turn their direction slightly.

Just behind them, the bright-colored tiger that they could only hear the roar of earlier finally showed its face. It was tall and majestic, and was very powerful. It ran at lightning speed, no slower than the horses that everyone was riding.

Many of the people in Qi Yang’s group changed their expression when they saw the fierce tiger. They waited for the tiger to run off with the young boy’s group, not looking like they cared about them, and then everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

But Qi Yang and Lu Qipei didn’t relax; they just felt their hearts dropping.

Especially Qi Yang; almost without hesitation, she chased after the group of people. Upon seeing this, Lu Qipei followed closely, at the same time taking the bow and arrow hanging by the saddle, lifting them in her hands. She also took time to count the remaining arrows in her quiver.

The attendants were not sure why, but no matter how scared they were, both the Princess and the Prince Consort had already rushed out, so they naturally had to grit their teeth and follow. After chasing the fierce tiger for a while from a distance, they heard Qi Yang commanding in deep voice, “Shoot your arrows, shoot that tiger for me!”

The first arrow was fired by Lu Qipei. She had a very good aim, and originally went for the fierce tiger’s hind leg. However, the king of beasts had very sharp senses, as if it could even detect the attack coming from behind. It jumped to the side in time and easily dodged this arrow. It didn’t stop afterwards, still chasing the “prey” ahead and refusing to give up.

When Lu Qipei fired her second arrow, the attendants behind her also reacted and followed suit.

Twenty or thirty arrows were not dense, but they were all concentrated in one place, finally forcing the tiger to stop.

The fierce tiger turned around and roared, shocking everyone’s mounts to a stop and making them raise their hooves.
