Chapter 135 Guilt? Affection?

With his standard tactic, it was quite easy to kill three dozen monsters in the underground sewers.

Most of them were not accustomed to bright lights, which was something Liam had made use of quite easily.

They were already on their way back outside when he felt something warm around his right hand.

Felicia had appeared on his right side. Her entire focus was on his hand which she gently held with her own. She smeared something on his hand, precisely at the spots that had been burned severely.

Felicia was guilt-ridden because it had been her fault. Everything had been her fault. If not for her asking to look for her parents, the others would have never been poisoned, and Liam would have never received such severe burns.

She and the others had only killed a few Vermin Rats, and only small droplets of their blood had splattered on the back of their hands since they wielded weapons. However, these droplets of blood on their skin had sizzled through their skin, making them feel the worst pain they had ever endured.

That excluded Derek, whose worst pain was the loss of his strong arm. But even for Derek the blood of the Vermin Rats was the second-worst experience of pain.

Hence, they couldn't even fathom the amount of pain Liam must have gone through. It was a disastrous thought that worsened Felicia's mental state drastically.

She had been selfish and always asked Liam for help, just to push him deeper and deeper into dangerous situations.

He might have gained something from the Kikal Stalks and the Spawn of the Ancient Vermin Draklings, but that didn't justify her selfish behavior.

Liam was actually not bothered, but that was not something Felicia could think about right now. Her mind was a mess.

Felicia spent close to ten minutes searching for the best solution for major burns. The cream she purchased had to be applied to the burns and they would accelerate the healing process, possibly even reinvigorate dead cells. In the worst case, he would shed the burned cells of his skin and new cells would form.

Felicia didn't even bother looking at the price of the cream as she purchased it. Her brain was also shut off as she appeared next to him, applying the cream diligently. She rolled up the sleeve of his combat suit and thoroughly checked his arm to make sure that she wouldn't miss a single spot.

Her action was noticed by everyone. It was unusual for Liam to allow anyone to approach and touch him all of a sudden. The others were pretty sure that Liam didn't really like physical touches, though they couldn't be certain about that.

Felicia touched Liam's hands gently. She carefully applied the cream on his burned hands without realizing that they had already reached the gate that led outside the underground sewers. She simply followed Liam and tended to his wounds.

Liam didn't do anything about this. He could tell that she was sorry about the wounds he had sustained and that she wanted to help him. There was no reason to reject her help either. It would cause an unnecessary rift in their relationship if he were to be guarded against her if she merely wanted to tend to his wounds.

However, what startled Liam a little was that Felicia reached out for his head as well. She held his chin affectionately and stared intently at his face, cupping his face with one hand while her other hand gently applied the cream to the burns on his face.

Liam froze in his tracks and his Arcane Power began to fluctuate. His Devil's Eyes were unintentionally triggered as the gaze on her intensified.

Felicia was still oblivious to his discomfort. She was too focused on applying the cream to the burn marks on his face that she was actually glad when Liam halted in his tracks.

It took her half a minute until she finished tending to all the burn marks on his face with the cream. Only then did she take a step back, while realizing that she was being eyed intently by Liam and everyone else?

Jennie covered her face with her hands, leaving only a small gap in between her fingers to see exactly what was going on, while Olivia smiled lightly.

Meanwhile, Hellen blushed at the sight that unfolded in front of her.

Liam stared intently at Felicia, whose hand was currently still resting on Liam's face, holding him gently.

"Ahhh…Sorry…I…I just…." Felicia's flustered voice reached everybody's ears. Her ears turned red, just like her burning cheeks.

She rushed outside the underground sewers to take deep breaths of fresh air, while avoiding Liam's gaze as he followed suit.

With fast strides, she appeared behind Olivia, whom she used as a protective shield to shield herself from the gazes that were thrown at her.

"Weren't you teasing Jennie not too long ago? Look, who is acting now!!" Olivia teased Felicia.

However, just when Olivia was about to add something, she saw Felicia's gaze. Closing her mouth, Olivia stared at her best friend, feeling a little shocked.

'Seriously?'

Felicia looked at Olivia with round puppy eyes and a red face. No matter how bubbly and hyperactive Felicia was, she never had seen such an expression on her face.

Forget about the deadly cute expression on her face, Felicia wasn't even the kind of person who would randomly touch others. She might be an overthinker, and feel a little bit guilty for the pain her actions caused Liam, but that shouldn't have been enough for her to react like this.

Felicia's unusual behavior and the expression on her face caused Olivia to feel truly shocked.

'Is Liam really such a player? No…he is not even trying something like that…He was also shocked about Felicia's sudden proactive action…' Olivia thought, sighing heavily as she patted her friend's back.

'Girl, just what are you doing?!'
