13 A nice chat!

'But wait, I have a helmet on. So even if I have a pair of fox ears, they shouldn't be visible.'

"Is she really a god though?" the woman of their group said and the three men looked at her.

"What do you mean?" one of the three men said.

"Just look at her," the woman said. "Yes, she may look as beautiful as the most beautiful goddess. There is no denying that. But just look at how she is dressed. A sorcerer apprentice's robe, a stick, a sword and a leather helmet. How are those ears even sticking out of that helmet?"

'So it's like that. But boy, she is really rude. Talking about me when I am standing in front of her.'

"She obviously made holes for them," another one of the three men said.

"That's right," two other men said one after another while nodding their heads in agreement.

'They are all rude.' I narrowed my eyes and crossed my arms in front of my chest. Then, I looked above their heads and saw their status information. The first status information that I saw was of the woman. The second status information was of the man that was the first to see me. And the third and the fourth status information were of the last two men.

Raising my right eyebrow from surprise, I thought, 'The three guards have the same surname? Are they brothers? No, they look nothing alike.'

"That's not what I am trying to say," Tiger Zais said. "If she was truly a god, then why would she wear a leather helmet, a sorcerer apprentice's robe, a stick and a sword. If she was truly a god, then why isn't she wearing her divine garments."

The Knightglen men nodded their heads one after another. And then all four of them looked at me.

"Well?" Tiger Zais said. "Come closer and tell us who are you? And tell us, why do you have the ears that only the gods are supposed to have?

Walking up to them, I looked at each of their faces for a brief moment before I stopped an arm's length away from them and looked Tiger Zais into her eyes. "I refuse to introduce myself, let alone explain anything to someone as rude as you or your friends."

Tiger Zais narrowed her eyes and the Knightglen men loudly gulped down their saliva.

"Quickly apologise to lady Zais or she will add you to the merchant association's blacklist," Knightglen Jim hastily said. "If that happens, no merchant will do business with you."

The other two Knightglen men hastily nodded their heads in agreement.

Tiger Zais smirked. "What are you waiting for? Apologise. No, kneel down and apologise."

"Where is the closest city?" I said as I looked over all four of them.

"You are not going to apologise to lady Zais?" Knightglen Vince said with surprise in his voice.

"To not fear to be on the merchant association's blacklist, she must really be a god," Knightglen Pete said.

"Yeah," the other two Knightglen men said as they nodded their heads in agreement.

"Kill her," Tiger Zais said, making the Knightglen men and me look at her. She was deeply frowning.

"Didn't you hear me?" Tiger Zais said. "Kill her."

"We can't lady Zais," Knightglen Pete said. "She is a god."

"Yeah," the other two Knightglen men said one after another as they nodded their heads in agreement.

"Kill her or I am putting you three on the blacklist," Tiger Zais said.

The Knightglen men closed their eyes. And when they opened them a short while later, they all looked at me. "I am sorry," Knightglen Pete said and the other two slowly nodded their heads.

The Knightglen men unsheathed their swords and shields while I extended my left arm and grabbed Tiger Zais's neck. Her frowning expression immediately disappeared from her face and it got replaced by an expression of fear.

"If either one of you moves, I will apply some force," I said. "And let me tell you, it is all that will take for her neck to snap and for her to die."

"She really is a god!" Knightglen Pete said. "She doesn't fear the merchant association's blacklist or their mercenaries."

The other two Knightglen men slowly nodded their heads in agreement.

"Pl—please don't kill me," Tiger Zais said in a barely audible voice.

I lowered my hand from her neck. "In which direction is the closest city and how far is it?"

"Thank you," Tiger Zais said.

Knightglen Pete sheathed his sword and his shield. "What a forgiving god!"

The other two Knightglen men also sheathed their swords and shields. "Yeah," they both said one after another.

"I will ask you again," I said. "In which direction is the closest city and how far is it?"

Tiger Zais pointed with her right hand's index finger in a direction that was slightly off the direction I was going. "You should be able to reach it in three days if you go on foot."

"Is she telling the truth?" I said as I moved my eyes across the Knightglen men.

"Yes," Knightglen Pete said. "You will reach Knightglen in three days if you go in a direction that miss Zais pointed you in."

The other two Knightglen men nodded their heads in agreement.

"Thank you," I said and walked off in the direction that Tiger Zais pointed in.
