14 A detour!

Walking in the direction that Tiger Zais pointed me in, before long, I found myself in a vast expanse of green grass fields which stretched out as far and as wide as my eyes could see with not a single tree in sight.

'I am hungry,' I thought to myself before I stopped. From my inventory, I pulled out one of my ham and cheese sandwiches and ate it. A notification message flashed in front of me.

I continued towards the town of Knightglen.

Since then, four hours had passed and three things happened. First, my tyrant class levelled up three levels going from > to >. Second, my shrine maiden class levelled up two levels going from > to >. And third, I saw a tree far into the distance, in the direction of the north-east.

'It has been quite a while since I last saw a tree. Maybe there will be more of them from this point on,' I thought to myself, and I was not wrong. As I walked further ahead, I saw more of them and not one here or there, but an entire forest.

Before I knew it, the forest was to my right side and I was walking beside it.

Another four hours passed and another three things happened. First, my tyrant class levelled up two levels going from > to >. Second, my shrine maiden class levelled up three levels going from > to >. And third, the sun was beginning to set down. But I was still walking with the forest to my right side.

'I will rest once the sun completely sets down,' I thought to myself, but then I saw what seemed to be a small child under the forest's outermost tree.

I walked up to that tree and saw that under it laid a little girl of around nine years of age with long ears, long dark-green hair, fair skin and a tear-stained face.

'An elf child? What is she doing here and why was she crying?'

Looking above her head, I saw her status information.

I squatted down and gently shook Faylen. Her eyelids wavered and her eyes slowly opened. But once they opened, they immediately got filled with tears. She grabbed the collar of my apprentice sorcerer's robe and began pulling and pushing it as she wept and screamed out five words over and over again, "*Wuwuwu!* Please save mommy and daddy! *Wuwuwu!*"

I smiled as best as I could. Then, I tightly hugged Faylen with my left hand and stroked her beautiful dark-green hair with my right hand as I whispered five words into her right ear, "It's going to be okay."

Faylen calmed down only when the sun had set and the moon rose.

"Are you okay?" I whispered into Faylen's ear.

"Mhm."

I released Faylen from my tight hug and stood up. Then, I extended my left arm and hand towards her. She looked me in my eyes and I saw that she had beautiful sky-blue eyes. She took my hand and I pulled her up.

"Where are your parents?" I asked.

Faylen closed her eyes and shook her head.

I squatted down. "If you don't tell me where they are, I won't be able to save them."

Faylen opened her eyes and then they widened. "You are a god?"

"Faylen, tell me where are your parents."

Faylen nodded her head. "Okay."

I stood up. "Let's go then," I said and Faylen led me towards the forest.

"Can you tell me what happened?" I said.

"Mhm. I was helping mommy in the house when we heard screams from outside. Mommy said that she will go outside to take a look but then—" Tears formed in her eyes. She wiped them off with the back of her right hand. "But then, these disgusting green creatures burst into our home and then *Wuwuwu*."

'Goblins,' I thought and said, "You can stop."

Faylen nodded her head.

'When we enter Faylen's village, she will see the goblins burrowed into the corpses of her people or even her parents. I don't want her to see such a sight, but I can't leave her in a place that I know nothing about.'

We entered the forest and a notification message flashed in front of me.

>

"Stop," I said as I myself stopped.

Faylen stopped and looked at me.

"Wait," I said.

"Okay," Faylen said.

I opened the menu and from it my character window.

Looking over my attributes, I allocated 36 points into Strength, 12 point into Dexterity, 24 point into Intellect, 24 points into Constitution, 12 point into Spirit and the last 12 points into Charisma.

I looked over my changed attributes.

I closed my character window and opened my talents window. Then, I looked at the talent that I was yet to unlock.

'This talent is not that good, but I can't access the further one without unlocking this one first.' I allocated my 5 skill points into this talent and it got unlocked. Then, I closed my talents window and the menu.

I put my right hand in front of me and using all of my mana, I activated the skill, >. Words floated up in my head and I began speaking them. As I spoke them, a paper charm formed in my right hand. After ten seconds, a paper charm was in my hand. I looked above it and saw its description.

>

I stored it into my inventory. Then, I made nine more such charms before opening my mouth and saying, "Listen to everything I say. Let's go."

"Okay," Faylen said and we continued ahead.
