Chapter 173 - Substitute II

"Class will start, let's go back." Michael said, rubbing the back of his neck in awkwardness.

"Mm." Sara nodded. It was really awkward between the two after the talk it was more.

On reaching their classroom, she sat down on her desk, not making any eye contact. Both didn't talk or look at each other for the whole day, they tried to ignore each other, even if it was awkward.

After school, she was first to leave. For her it was really awkward to talk with him.

She went out of the classroom, and took a peek from the door before leaving.

She knocked the staff room door before going in,"Sara, what's going on with you and the new transfer student?" Her homeroom teacher asked clearly, not hesitating.

"I…"

"Leave it, I don't care about your matters. Only one thing, if you two contradict your studies for it, I will not give a second thought before calling both of your parents and tell them your matters." Her teacher warned her, she knows both Sara and Michael are excellent students. Sara came from an influential family, whereas Michael's background was kept in dark by the principal, if he could get into the school even it was not the admission session. He must have strong backings, the teacher didn't want to get herself in trouble, but she can't forget her rule as a teacher.

"Yes," Sara nodded feeling happy that she didn't have to explain. She bowed and left, a sweet smile lingering on her rosy lips.

Present time…

Sara rubbed away her tears, and took a deep breath."It's fine, trust him one more for your baby." Sara comforted herself.

Maybe trusting him will be not that bad? Maybe she was just acting on impulse due to pregnancy, but she can't tolerate her husband taking her as a substitute. She better want to stay away from him than staying as a substitute for him.

Sha lay on the bed, trying to sleep, but the memories of the day still haunted her, what if he leaves her?

She turned to the side, to stop herself from thinking it, when she heard the door opening. She closed her eyes in a hurry.

Michael sat down on the bed beside her, he looked at her face, she was asleep. He can't stop himself from c.a.r.e.s.sing her cheeks softly.

"I am sorry." Michael learned a bit to kiss her on the forehead, when she suddenly opened her eyes.

"You awake?" Michael asked, stopping, both were awkward.

Sara nodded, her lips drawn thin line, as she stared at him. Both of their eyes interact as if they were talking to each other eye contact.

"I just came back to check if you are comfortable." Michael stated, sitting up straight. Sara sat straight, biting her lips, she was calmed from outside but inside her mind was a mess.

A trail of thoughts ran inside her mind, but she didn't dare to say it aloud. She clasped on her blanket, and didn't make any eye contact with him.

'Was he worried about her? Was she important to him or he came because he missed his first love.'

"Were you worried about me?" Sara questioned gathering her courage.

"If I don't worry about you two,who will I worry about?" Michael smiled and replied sweetly, stroking her belly.

"Sorry" Sara broke apart hearing his words, the river flowed down from her eyes.

"Why?" Michael was a bit fl.u.s.tered by her sudden weeping, he didn't know what he should do to stop her from crying. He held her in his arms, not knowing what else he could do.

"Sorry." Sara cried out, wrapping her arm around him tightly. She was getting mood swings everyday because of the pregnancy, sometimes she burst out, sometimes she got sad even for a small reason.

"It's fine, you are not wrong." Michael patted her back to comfort her, but she can't stop her tears.

It was a few minutes later, she was able to control her emotions. She finally let go of him, Michael got some tissues for her from the bedside table.

"Thank you." Sara rubbed away her leftover tears. She looked up at him.

"Why?" Sara questioned him.

"Hmm? What?" He looked at her muddled about her question.

"Don't you hate me?" Sara raised a brow.

"Why should I hate you?" Michael was curious about what she asked, he never hated her.

He should understand that only he remembers their past, not her . She met him just half a year ago. Maybe somewhere it was a good beginning for them but no one has ever thought the past still can be a nightmare to them.

Past will never leave, if happiness comes around, sadness would too.

Being with his or her loved ones is always a dream come true, but dreams sometimes turn into a nightmare, it just depends on the person if they want the nightmare to become a dream again.

"I just overreacted to your past, she was your first love, your past not present but.." Sara bite her lower lips, hesitating to say what she wanted to.

Michael saw her hesitation, and held her hands firmly, she looked up at him,"I don't want to be her substitute." Sara said her thoughts loud and clear.

"You may look at me as her substitute, but I don't want it. I don't want your love as her substitute. I would instead leave yo….." She couldn't complete her sentence, when he placed his lips on hers.

Sara was surprised by the sudden act, stood still in her place as if she didn't dare to do anything.

Seeing her not reacting back, he let go of her, he cupped her cheeks, and looked straight into her eyes,"Yes, I had first love but I never took you as anyone's substitute, you are always Sara for me, no one except you and I don't want you to leave me, nor I would allow." He said in a possessive and dangerous tone.
