CH 8

Coming out of the self-service hotel, the SUV parked by the roadside had already received a fine from the  police.

The fine was in the most severe black color, warning the owner that they would be arrested if they didn’t pay.

Klet casually tore the fine off and crumpled it into a ball, throwing it into a nearby trash can, then walked around to the alley behind the hotel.

“Did you catch him?” Maerken’s voice came through the communicator.

“No,” Klet looked up and glanced at Shen Siwei’s room window, his gaze naturally falling on the residential building across the street.

Ten minutes ago, when Klet arrived at the self-service hotel, something seemed strange

He quickly headed to the seventh-floor room, kicked open the door , and when he saw Shen Siwei wearing a cloak, he subconsciously thought he hadn’t had time to change clothes.

Although later it turned out that he was wrong, but—

His waist felt quite good to touch.

“He must have entered and exited through the window.” Putting aside inappropriate thoughts, Klet teached the rooftop of the residential building. “Do you think he can jump from the seventh floor to the fifth floor?”

“Impossible, right?” Maerken’s tone was full of doubt. “Or is he pretending to be weak?”

“Hard to say.” At least from the outside, that beautiful negotiator didn’t seem like someone who could scale walls and fly.

“Are there any footprints he left on the fifth floor?” Maerken asked.

The rooftop of the residential building only had air conditioners and water purification equipment. Klet used a flashlight to look around, but he didn’t find any suspicious footprints.

“No,” he walked to the edge of the rooftop, looked up at Shen Siwei’s room window, and began to contemplate the amount of jumping force needed to jump back from the fifth floor to the seventh floor.

The conclusion he reached was that a normal person couldn’t do it unless they had installed mechanical limbs.

“Is he really watching the news?” Maerken asked again.

“I don’t know.” Next time, he would have to touch those legs again and see if they had undergone mechanical modifications. “In any case, keep an eye on him.”

“Um, boss,” Maerken suddenly said, “it seems like you’ve been exposed.”

After Klet left, Shen Siwei threw his night attire into the laundry chute in the bathroom and changed into a newly bought white uniform.

There was no chance to relax and enjoy a bath. As long as Shen Siwei didn’t figure out how Klet knew he had gone out, he couldn’t let his guard down.

Speaking of which, Klet came to check after Shen Siwei had already returned to the hotel, which meant he didn’t know immediately when Shen Siwei left the hotel.

If Klet had spotted Shen Siwei on the way, he should have directly stopped him instead of coming to the hotel to check on him.

Furthermore, Shen Siwei had been avoiding surveillance cameras along the way, so the possibility of being caught on camera was small.

“So…” Shen Siwei surveyed the hotel room and murmured to himself, “what caused Klet’s suspicion?”

He went outside the room to take a look and immediately noticed something weird.

Near the door frame close to the ground, there was a clearly sticky circular mark. Shen Siwei touched it—it was still strong, indicating that whatever was stuck to the wall had been removed not long ago.

A bug transmitter. The size and shape of the circular mark were quite indicative, not difficult for Shen Siwei to guess. “Interesting.”

It seemed that Klet escorting him back to the room , regardless of being a gentleman or not,was purely to install a bug transmitter.

Klet seemed to be more difficult to handle than he had imagined.

But a mission had to have some difficulty to be exciting, right?

Shen Siwei stood up, unabashedly looked at the surveillance camera in the corridor, and then entered the elevator. Coming out of the self-service hotel, Shen Siwei surprisingly saw the SUV parked at the entrance.

Klet was leaning against the car door, smoking a cigarette. His right leg was casually bent and resting on his left leg, and the large vehicle matched his height. When he saw Shen Siwei coming out, he flicked away the cigarette in his hand, as if he had been waiting for him.

Some things didn’t need to be explicitly stated, and Klet’s actions indicated that he knew Shen Siwei was coming down from upstairs. In other words, he was indirectly admitting that he was indeed monitoring Shen Siwei.

At the same time, Shen Siwei’s calm expression also conveyed to Klet that he knew he was being watched.

Just these actions alone were not enough to expose Shen Siwei’s identity, so he didn’t mind playing this with Klet.

Sitting in the passenger seat, Shen Siwei stared straight ahead and said, “Go to the Creston Grand Hotel, please.”

His tone was devoid of any emotion, completely treating Klet as a driver.

“Is the accommodation here uncomfortable?” Klet asked knowingly.

“The Creston Grand Hotel has a 300-square-meter presidential suite,” Shen Siwei hinted.

The range of sound that a bug transmitter could pick up was limited. As long as the room was spacious enough, there was no need to worry about being monitored by a bug transmitter when moving around inside the room.

“Hmm.” Klet clearly understood Shen Siwei’s intentions and a smile appeared on his lips. “Indeed, it suited the identity of a negotiator better.”

The SUV turned the first street corner, and in the line of sight ahead, the pinnacle of the power station and the Creston Grand Hotel, a little further away, came into view.

Shen Siwei’s thoughts inevitably drifted to the power station. However, at that moment, a small armed drone suddenly appeared in front of the windshield, blocking his view.

“License plate number ‘West Z?XXXXXX,’ please stop immediately!”

The drone had the emblem of the traffic police, and Shen Siwei looked at klet beside him and asked, “How many violations did you commit?”

“Not many.” Klet abruptly stepped on the accelerator, throwing the drone behind the vehicle. However, at that moment, four more armed drones appeared ahead, and each one extended two long barrels from its body.

“Final warning, please stop immediately!”

Klet still didn’t step on the brakes but instead threw his gun to Shen Siwei.

“I’ll drive you shoot,” he said.

Shen Siwei: “???”

“Did you forget that I am a negotiator?” Shen Siwei looked at Klet in disbelief. “Are you asking me to attack the police?”

committing a traffic violation while driving wasn’t a big deal, but Shen Siwei, a negotiator, would never engage in assaulting the police!

“If you don’t shoot, they’ll shoot at you.”

As soon as Klet finished speaking, the five armed drones simultaneously opened fire, bullets hitting the bulletproof glass, creating countless marks.

Learning from the previous incident, Shen Siwei couldn’t appear too calm. He had no choice but to feign a panicked expression and furrowed his brow. “I don’t know how to shoot.”

“Are you sure?” Klet raised an eyebrow. “Then you’ll be a fugitive with me.”

Shen Siwei: “…”

How could someone be so unpredictable? His current identity was that of a nobleman, so who would instigate a noble to commit a crime?

The bulletproof glass around them gradually showed signs of cracking. If the car window were eventually shattered, Shen Siwei truly didn’t know how he would react. He decided to pick up the gun and aim it at Klet’s temple. “Stop the car!”

To avoid exposing that he knew how to use a gun, Shen Siwei didn’t even release the safety pin. Klet showed a slightly amused expression, clearly not expecting Shen Siwei to come up with this.

Amidst the sound of the bulletproof glass gradually shattering, he calmly looked ahead at the road. “You said you wouldn’t shoot.”

Shen Siwei exerted pressure on Klet’s head, speaking in a low voice. “See if I dare.”

Klet’s head was forced to lean to the left, and he calmly glanced at Shen Siwei before finally stepping on the brakes. “Fine.”

The SUV slowly came to a stop on the side of the road, and the police ceased their gunfire.

Klet obediently paid the fine, then turned to Shen Siwei beside him and asked, “Satisfied now, negotiator?”

Shen Siwei returned the gun to Klet, his frowning brow still not relaxed. “Drive.”

After the wild ride on the road just now, they only needed to make a turn at the intersection to reach the Creston Grand Hotel.

The luxurious lobby of a five-star hotel was incomparable to the cheap self-service hotel. Shen Siwei’s restless mood improved slightly as he completed the check-in procedure at the front desk and headed straight for the elevator. However, at that moment, he suddenly heard Klet speaking to the front desk behind him, “The presidential suite, give him the adjacent room.”

Shen Siwei abruptly stopped in his tracks and looked at Klet. “Don’t you have a place to stay?”

“No,” Klet shrugged. “The surveillance in this hotel is impenetrable.”

In other words, he had to personally keep an eye on Shen Siwei.

Truly straightforward.

Feeling both annoyed and helpless, Shen Siwei said, “Why don’t you just follow me around 24/7?”

“I have no objections,” Klet immediately followed up on Shen Siwei’s words. “Shall we share a room then?”

Shen Siwei turned his head and walked towards the elevator.

Behind him, Klet’s low laughter rang out, as if he had encountered something amusing, putting him in a good mood.

A five-star hotel with a defense system had almost no other guests. The elevator went straight to the top floor of the hotel, revealing the neon lights of the city at night.

From a distance, the defense of the power station remained impeccable. The patrolling refugees were all energetic, showing no signs of fatigue.

Shen Siwei glanced at it briefly before hurriedly retracting his gaze. After all, Klet was still by his side.

The two presidential suites were located on opposite sides of the elevator. After getting off the elevator, Shen Siwei walked towards his own room without looking back.

Suddenly, Klet called out to him from behind. “Negotiator.”

Shen Siwei stopped and turned his body slightly.

“Just a reminder,” Klet slowly spoke with a lazy tone, but his words were menacing. “Those who point a gun at my head end up dead.”

Shen Siwei narrowed his eyes. What did he mean by this? Was this person threatening him?

He turned the rest of his body, meeting Klet’s gaze head-on.

“Then let me remind you as well,” he said. “Those who touch my ass end up dead.”

Leaving those words behind, Shen Siwei swiped open his room door, shutting out Klet’s laughter behind the door.
