CH 9

A 300-square-meter presidential suite, the living room alone was larger than a room in a self-service hotel.

The intelligent lighting system automatically adjusted the indoor lighting, making the spacious room look clean and cozy.

The 270-degree floor-to-ceiling windows offered a beautiful view of the city at night.

From a distance, there are still many refugees patrolling around the perimeter of the power station, and Shen Siwei completely dismissed the idea of exploring at night.

He took off the oxygen mask he had been wearing all day, took off the newly purchased white uniform, and immersed his entire body in the bathtub.

Whether it was due to being frozen for too long or not, the feeling of being surrounded by hot water made Shen Siwei extremely comfortable.

his skin soaked in hot water, and the warm steam awakened and healed his respiratory tract. If it weren’t for the communicator suddenly ringing at that moment, Shen Siwei would have almost fallen asleep in the bathtub.

【klet: Negotiations tomorrow morning.】

When registering his identity information at the self-service hotel, Shen Siwei’s communication ID would be displayed on the screen.

Clearly, Klet seemed to have casually glanced at the screen but had memorized all of Shen Siwei’s information.

he was really cunning, and it was nothing new to Shen Siwei.

He replied with a single “okay” and then shifted his gaze to the floor-to-ceiling window.

There was also a large floor-to-ceiling window in the bathroom. The round bathtub was at the center of the bathroom, and Shen Siwei sat at a position facing the window, enjoying the night sky while bathing, which was truly pleasant.

Although there were no stars in the night sky, the view was perfect for emptying one’s mind.

Just as Shen Siwei’s thoughts began to blur again, countless tiny stars suddenly appeared in his eyes.

No, they weren’t stars, but miniature drones.

Swarming like a bee colony, the drones flew in from somewhere and stuck themselves to the large floor-to-ceiling window with a pounding sound.

Shen Siwei quickly got out of the bathtub, and at the same time, all the drones exploded simultaneously, turning the thick window glass into pieces.

The hotel’s defense system was automatically activated, and four dark gun barrels appeared at the corners of the window frame. However, by this time, the drones had all self-destructed, and the loaded gun barrels couldn’t find any shooting targets.

Suddenly, with a “click,” a small grenade was thrown in from below the window.

Everything happened too quickly. If it were at another time, Shen Siwei wouldn’t be afraid of the explosion, but at this moment, his face had no mask, and once the explosion occurred, his respiratory tract would be damaged.

The oxygen mask was placed on the washbasin, several meters away from Shen Siwei. The countdown of the grenade had only one tick left, and it was highly likely that the explosion would happen before Shen Siwei could reach the mask.

In an instant, Shen Siwei made a decision and immediately returned to the bathtub, submerging his entire body in the water.

At the moment his hair touched the water’s surface, a loud explosion was heard. The powerful shockwave shattered the bathtub, and the scattered water carried Shen Siwei several meters away.

The room was filled with waves of heat, like a flaming inferno.

Shen Siwei grabbed a wet towel from the side and covered his mouth and nose, but within five seconds, he felt a strong suffocating sensation.

No, it’s unbearable…

The scene before his eyes gradually became blurry, but Shen Siwei dared not release the wet towel.

Because if he let go, the high temperature would only make him suffocate more. Although the sprinkler system above his head had started working, the steam made Shen Siwei even more uncomfortable.

So, who wanted to kill him?

The person who threw the grenade must be downstairs, or else any attack from a distance would have been prevented by the hotel’s defense system.

The drones also passed through the defense system, indicating that the other party was accurate.

Can’t take it anymore… he needed oxygen…

The mask was on the ground just a few meters away. As long as Shen Siwei tried a little harder, he could reach it.

But…

He had overestimated his own cardiorespiratory function. He didn’t expect that he couldn’t hold his breath for even a few seconds.

His consciousness grew increasingly blurred, and Shen Siwei couldn’t hold on any longer. However, just at that moment, a pair of familiar Martin boots appeared in his field of vision, and in the next second, his naked body was completely covered by a white cloak.

“What happened?” Klet’s voice sounded in his ear, and Shen Siwei inexplicably felt relieved.

He knew that in order to avoid an all-out war, Klet would never allow anything to happen to the negotiator in his territory.

Shen Siwei tightly grasped the clothes on Klet’s chest and allowed him to carry him out of the room.

Leaving the flaming hell, Shen Siwei finally released the towel that covered his mouth and nose. He increased the strength in his hands, preventing Kret from going any futher and said, “Mask… I need a mask…”

“What exactly was that?” Klet frowned and asked.

“Shen Siwei didn’t have the energy to come up with explanations. He could only lean on Klet’s shoulder and tightly grip the clothes in his hand, saying, ‘Face mask…’

The damp strands of hair stuck to Shen Siwei’s forehead, making his face look extremely exhausted. Despite that, he still held onto Klet’s clothes with a firm grip, and a pale color formed on his fair skin.

Klet really couldn’t be bothered with the damn face mask, but seeing Shen Siwei’s change in appearance, he placed him down and returned to the chaotic room.

At this moment, thanks to the room’s sprinkler system, the spreading fire was gradually brought under control.

Klet endured the discomfort of water drenching him and quickly found that small gadget in the bathroom.

A simple breathing mask with nothing special about it.

Could it be true, as Malcolm said, that the noble negotiator couldn’t adapt to the air on the lower levels?

Shen Siwei remained outside alone, and Klet didn’t have time to ponder too much, so he arrived at the door and handed the mask to Shen Siwei. Once the negotiator, who had just been half-dead, put on the mask, he quickly calmed down.

“What kind of stuff are you inhaling?” Klet asked. “A sedative?”

“It’s none of your business,” Shen Siwei adjusted his breathing with effort, finally having the energy to pull his exposed calf back into his cloak.

If he remembered correctly, when klet was carrying him earlier, it seemed like he was touching his knee pit.

“Is this how you treat your lifesaver?” Klet raised an eyebrow and asked.

“Don’t you think you should save me?” Shen Siwei retorted, no longer weak as before. “My death wouldn’t benefit you in any way.”

Klet almost burst into laughter. How did this person change so quickly? Who was the one looking pitifully at him in his arms earlier, asking him to fetch the mask?

Just as soon as he got the mask, he turned back into a fierce-looking person.

Klete dismissed his thoughts and pointed with his chin toward the room. “So what’s the situation exactly?”

“Somebody wants to kill me,” Shen Siwei’s gaze turned cold. “They’re downstairs, but I’m not sure which floor.”

He didn’t conceal much and informed Klet of what had just happened. Although it was slightly strange that he experienced an explosion without getting injured, the explanation of hiding in the bathtub was convincing enough, and Klet didn’t seem to doubt it.

“I’ll have someone investigate,” Klete said, and at that moment, the few employees of the hotel finally arrived, trembling with guns and frying pans in their hands. They probably couldn’t figure out the situation and feared that the refugees were attacking the hotel.

“We can’t stay here,” Klet said. “You go to my house first.”

“My house?” Shen Siwei asked.

“Or I can send you away immediately.”

If Klet hadn’t been next door, Shen Siwei would have been in serious trouble. From anyone’s perspective, it was the safest choice for Shen Siwei to leave immediately.

But how could Shen Siwei possibly leave?

He pursed his lips and asked, “Is your house clean?”

Klet turned and started walking. ” Okay I’ll send you back.”

“Fine.” Shen Siwei immediately stopped Klet, taking three or four steps forward. “I’ll go to your house.”
