CH 19

Shen Siwei’s knee forcefully struck his crotch, but it was blocked by a swiftly reacting mechanical arm.

With two loud thuds, Shen threw a punch causing Barnes to roll twice on the sofa, and the second punch sent him flying into the wall of the private room.

If it weren’t for the sudden attack from the person behind Shen Siwei, he would have continued serving Barnes with a series of blows.

A whip kick suddenly struck from the waist side, and Shen Siwei instinctively used his arm to defend against the attack. His body violently leaned against the back of the sofa chair, and the heavy leather sofa broke apart in the middle.

Shen Siwei leaned against the broken sofa, quickly assessing the situation of the other two individuals. Obviously, their bodies had also undergone mechanical modifications.

“Is your right arm also a mechanical prosthesis?” Barnes rose from the dented wall, shook his damaged forearm, and saw the three dents caused by Shen Siwei’s attacks return to their original state, with only slight traces of the damage left. “You’re quite good at pretending. So you are not just a frail thing?.”

Illegally modified prosthetics typically had better performance than military-grade prosthetics because military-grade ones considered the body’s load, appearance among other factors, and had few modifications.

However, illegal modifications were different. Those refugees only wanted more power, even if it meant sacrificing their bodies.

“A hydraulic repair system?” Shen Siwei smirked. “Interesting.”

With a strong push off the ground, Shen Siwei swiftly charged towards Barnes. However, at that moment, one of Barn’s subordinates suddenly rushed from the side. Shen Siwei grabbed the steel pipe in the middle of the room, his body moving in a graceful arc, and kicked his chest.

The person crossed their hands in an “X” shape, blocking the attack in front of their chest, but their body still flew out and crashed into the wall of the private room.

“Boss,” the other person, frightened, retreated to the door of the private room. “His leg is also a mechanical prosthesis!”

Ordinary people could only endure modifications on one limb since mechanical prosthetics put considerable pressure on the brain and spine. Excessive modifications led to death.

Obviously, those three individuals ignored the fact that Shen Siwei initially attacked with his knee and subconsciously believed that only his arms were prosthetic.

But they guessed wrong.

“Not exactly,” Shen Siwei, wearing pajamas and cotton slippers, stood on the coffee table and casually took the steel pipe fixed beside him. “None of my limbs are prosthetic.”

“How is that possible?” Barnes looked at Shen Siwei with a serious expression. “Marg people are just a subspecies capable of living in low-oxygen environments. How could they evolve to be like you?”

Barnes was right. Marg people indeed had stronger physical abilities than ordinary humans, but not to such an exaggerated extent.

Shen Siwei was just relying on his false identity as a Marg person and making things up.

“It’s hard to say.” Shen Siwei tilted his head and looked at Barnes. “Do you still want to give it a try?”

There was already a dead body outside the private room, so Shen Siwei had to finish the fight quickly.

This time, Barnes directly pulled out his gun. As he fired while moving towards the door, it was clear that he intended to escape.

The bullets shattered the flickering disco ball, casting the private room into darkness.

Barnes only focused on blindly shooting, and when he finally stopped pulling the trigger, there was no sound in the dark room.

He thought he had hit Shen Siwei and immediately rushed towards the door. However, at that moment, a dark figure suddenly appeared right in front of him, startling him to the point that he instinctively raised his arm and fired a shot.

The gun muzzle once again went off, revealing a pair of crimson eyes. The bullet flew straight towards Shen Siwei’s forehead but rebounded and hit Barnes’s left eye.

“Ah!!!” A miserable scream echoed in the private room.

Shen Si grabbed Barn’s right wrist and threw him out of the compartment like throwing a shot put. Then, he stomped on Barn’s head, forcefully tearing off his mechanical right arm.

Now, no repair system could fix it.

The noise from the dance floor was deafening, and no one noticed what was happening in the compartment. Barn was barely alive, pleading for mercy. However, Shen Si  pressed his foot a little harder, crushing the easily breakable skull.

When the bullet pierced Barn’s left eye, the blood sprayed and stained Shen Si’s pajamas.

The wine-red pajamas seemed to be a wise choice; even with bloodstains, nothing was visible

Wearing such pajamas, he couldn’t just go back to the klet’s place as if nothing had happened. Moreover, with Barn’s incident here, Shen Si had to come up with an excuse in advance.

After some thought, he pulled up a map and found a secluded self-service bathhouse.

As Shen Si left the strip club through the back door, he heard a violent uproar erupting behind him.

There was panic, uncontrollable anger, and demands for the killer to reveal themselves.

He casually walked away pretending not to hear the commotion behind him.

—The choice of cotton slippers seemed wise too. The soles were soft and smooth, leaving no footprints wherever he went.

Shen Si intentionally chose a small alley away from the main road. However, after walking for a while, he felt someone was following him from behind.

He found a corner, discreetly turned around to check, and the clumsy tail quickly hid behind a trash can. But Shen Si had already seen the figure clearly.

Indeed, it was him. Shen Si thought to himself.

No wonder klet didn’t send anyone.

Sighing helplessly, Shen Si quickened his pace and shook off the follower behind him.

He continued walking in the alley for about twenty minutes until he finally arrived at the secluded bathhouse.

The bathhouse had a Japanese-style decor, with a curtain hanging in front of the entrance. Inside, there was a lounge for resting. The self-service bathhouse also didn’t offer any “special services,” and at this late hour, there were no serious customers in the bathhouse, only a lonely beckoning cat at the entrance.

Shen Si selected the most expensive private bath on the LCD screen, took the key to the changing room, and changed into the bathhouse-provided robe. He threw his bloodstained pajamas into the washing machine.

The private bath was located outdoors at the end of a corridor.

He reached the end, opened the sliding door, and saw a small courtyard. Though not large, it had mountains, water, and flowers, making for a pleasant view. If the pitch-black night sky had stars, the environment would be considered perfect.

The medium-sized bath in the courtyard could accommodate six to eight people,.likely designed for families. However, given the current situation in this city, no family had the leisure to enjoy such facilities.

Shen Si quickly washed away the bloodstains on his body and stepped into the steaming hot bath. He felt quite relaxed -. Perhaps due to being frozen for a long time, Shen Si enjoyed the warm sensation. The gentle hot water enveloped his entire body, providing thorough relaxation for his tense muscles.

Closing his eyes, he savored this ultimate comfort. However, not long after, a notification popped up on the communicator in his palm.

The holographic display in the water was not clear, so Shen Si raised his right hand and discovered it was a message from klet

【klet: Where are you?】

“Oh so now he’s curious about me”.

Shen Si lazily sent the coordinates and also informed klet the room number. About twenty minutes later, the sound of roaring engines echoed outside the bathhouse.

Shen Si still rested his head on the edge of the pool, his eyes closed, quietly listening to the familiar footsteps drawing nearer from a distance.

With a “swish,” someone forcefully pulled open the locked sliding door from the outside. Shen Si finally opened his eyes, but before he could react, klet swiftly closed the sliding door with a “snap.”

“Barn is dead.” klet looked down at the naked Shen Si in the bath, his tone flat as he stated the fact. There was no expression on his face, and it was impossible to discern what he was thinking.

He seemed to have no expectation for Shen Si to respond, as he undressed himself without a care, revealing his sturdy upper body and two explosively powerful legs.

he stood by the pool, his gaze scanning over Shen Si’s curled-up legs, and then… he removed his black boxer briefs.

Shen Si subtly raised an eyebrow, politely averted his gaze, maintaining a calm demeanor on the surface, but internally he was shocked by what he saw.

Ripples spread across the calm pool as klet stepped into the bath.

The bath, which could accommodate several people, immediately felt cramped, and Shen Si furrowed his brow due to the oppressive feeling next to him.

“This is the bath I booked,” he stated

klet ignored him and sat down next to Shen Si. The rippling water seemed like a hand, caressing Shen Si’s arm and then flowing over his entire body.

klet extended his arms and rested them on the edge of the pool. He turned his head to look at Shen Si within his arm’s reach and asked in a low voice, “Where were you just now?”
